I love these little pocket notebook covers that I saw on Pinterest. These are a few examples:
You can make your own notepads using printables. Simply clamp them and glue the top edge with a good amount of glue. Allow them to completely dry. You can also buy premade notepads at the craft store.

To make a cover, buy or print double sided cardstock or heavy paper. Or glue two different cardstocks together back-to-back. You can also add craft paper or scrapbook paper to cardstock for the same effect using something like modgepodge to get a good seal. If printing, you might want to spray a sealer on to avoid ink smudges. Measure, trim, and score a wrap around cover for the notepad. Using the heavy weight double sided paper print your chosen papers and trim to the width of your notepad. Measure and score the wrap around cover.

Attach a fastener and you are done! These would be great gifts or stocking stuffers.
